Roulette Bets & History
This lesson is about Roulette Bets at
Learn Roulette
Wheel program with a little history tossed into the mix.
The
nobles of Europe a few centuries ago found roulette to be their premier
gambling game. The earliest form of roulette wagering saw Roman
soldiers spinning their shields and betting on which area would point
at this or that person, place or thing. Guess right, and you won
something. Guess wrong and you lost something.
Over the generations, roulette evolved into the game we now see, with
numbers, colors, and various betting options.
Perhaps slot machines, poker or keno is not up your alley when you
visit your favorite casinos online or off.
Are
you looking for something with some uncertainty, something to play with
a little risk and a spin of a wheel? If your answer is yes,
then
take a look at some roulette bets.
There are two versions of roulette, the American version and the
European version.
The
American version, which has 36 numbers and a green 0 and 00, was
actually invented in Europe but is rarely played there now.
The European version with 36 numbers and a 0 was actually invented in
America but is rarely played here now.
In
its most basic form, this game is about players who either place
roulette bets on a single number, the color red or black, or an odd or
even number combination.
Betting options and payouts for a double zero table are:
Straight Up - Any numbers, 0 and 00--35 to 1
Column - Any 12 numbers in a column--2 to 1
Dozen - 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12--2 to 1
Red or Black--1 to 1
Odd or Even--1 to 1
1 to 18 or 19 to 36--1 to 1
Split - Any 2 neighboring numbers--17 to 1
Row - Any 3 numbers in a row--11 to 1
Corner - Any of the 4 contiguous numbers--8 to 1
5 Numbers - 0, 00, 1, 2 & 3. Don’t do it!--6 to 1
Double Row - Any 6 numbers in 2 rows--5 to 1
Outside roulette bets are placed in the boxes and columns on the outer
areas of the layout.
Inside roulette bets are placed directly on a number or on a line
between numbers, known as streets.
After the bet is made, the dealer-croupier spins a wheel to decide what
number and color wins.
That winning number is determined by where the ball stops, either in a
black odd number or red even number.
It is a simple game of chance and it all depends on which numbers and
colors that you choose.
There
are a few simple strategies. You can just play the simple
game of
colors by choosing either black or red. Another strategy is
to
bet on odd or even numbers. A better strategy is to develop
pattern betting where you
place your bets on the same colors or numbers before each spin.
Distance
yourself from randomly betting all over the roulette table, but rather
predetermine how much and where you will place your bets on the
table.
Keep in mind that no strategy is going to guarantee
that you will win as this is a game of chance based on numbers, colors,
and a tiny ball spinning around a wheel.
However, it’s so entertaining and different from any other casino game.
